Men’s Soccer Season Recap

Elijah McCain

After last night’s 4-0 win against Portsmouth West, it is clear that the Waverly Men’s Soccer team is a very different team from last season.  The Men’s team has currently won four, tied one and lost four.  With the help of their new coach, Luke McCallister, they are looking to be contenders in the top of the SOC.  Following a narrow loss to last season’s SOC champions, South Webster, the Tigers look to take revenge this Thursday night.

Leading the Tigers in their goal-scoring prowess are Caleb Boyer and Keagan Smith.  Waverly is lucky to have one of the top goalkeepers in the league, Aaron Haynes, who averages nine saves each game.  He is protected by an amazing defensive line led by Drake Teeters and Waylon Lamerson.  Team captains include Drake Teeters, Aaron Haynes and Britton Kritzwiser.  Waverly has several games left, all against challenging teams, and hopes to make a statement that they are a team to beat.
