Mrs.Prall’s Valentine

1. How did the relationship start? When I was a senior in high school, our basketball team was having a good year. My husband is a big Waverly Tiger sports fan, so he came to watch our games. I’d like to think he was attracted to my good looks and charm, but I really think he was interested in my basketball skills. He asked a mutual friend to see if I would be interested in going out with him. I said I had to think about it. Actually, I wanted to ask my parents what they thought because he’s 10 years older than me. My parents knew him and said it was ok because he’s such a nice guy. When he called to ask me to the movies, he interrupted my Monday night TV line-up, which included my favorite show, “Designing Women!” I wasn’t very talkative (I wanted to get back to my shows!
). He asked, “Would you like to go to the movies Friday?” I responded, “I don’t care. I guess so.” He told me later that he wasn’t sure if I was interested or not! I guess I was because we’ve been together ever since.

2. How long have you guys been together?
33 years married this August. 34 years total in April (we dated 1 year)
3. Do you guys have a song? No, sorry
4. What is a special memory you guys have together?
We’ve raised 2 daughters, seen the Grand Canyon, visited Mount Rushmore, hiked in Yellowstone and Yosemite, driven down Highway 1 in California, been to the beach, toured Washington DC, ridden hundreds of miles on bike paths and Scioto Trails, etc…. but none of those memories are more special than the ones we make each day just by asking the other what they did in the day and being genuinely interested in the good and bad.
5. Who would win in the Hunger Games? You or your spouse?
I would say me, and I think he would agree. I love a challenge and adventure, so I think I would be up for the endurance and stamina it would require. However, he is a better planner/organizer that thinks things through before acting, so he might play the game smarter, not harder. Maybe he would win! I tend to jump in too quickly and have to undo mistakes, and there’s no room for error in the Hunger Games!
